Is Shopify pausing your pixel?

On 13 January 2026 Shopify made "Optimized" the default for app pixels. In that mode it decides whether a pixel's signal is worth sending and can hold back some or all of it, over days or weeks, with no email, no banner, and the pixel still showing as connected. Ads go quiet and nothing says why.

Paste your store. We load it like a shopper would and tell you whether any app pixel shows the symptom.

Free, no login, a few minutes. We look at your public storefront only. We cannot read the setting itself from outside, only its symptom, and the answer says so.

What "the symptom" means

An app pixel is one a sales channel or app installed: Facebook & Instagram, Google & YouTube, TikTok. They run in Shopify's own pixel sandbox, and those are the only pixels Optimized mode can touch. Anything in your theme code or Google Tag Manager is unaffected.

A held-back app pixel still loads. It just stops sending: a page view that never arrives, an event missing on the product page, a pixel that runs on the storefront and is absent at checkout. Those are what we look for. Other things cause them too, which is why the answer gives you the two-minute check rather than a verdict on the setting.

The fix, if it is on

Settings, then Customer events, then the App pixels tab. Open each pixel and set its mode to "Always on". That is the whole fix. Then run this again.
